Once the proper subgrade has been established, the next step is to install a base layer that will serve as the foundation for the asphalt pavement. Typically, this layer would consist of 6”-8” of crushed aggregate, that would be graded to ensure proper drainage and then compacted to achieve the proper density.  Once these steps have been completed now it’s time to install the pavement.
